Social Worker Program Coordinator-VISN Lead

The incumbent has the responsibility for coordinating interdisciplinary staffing, work assignments, budget, treatment services provided, and admission criteria of the Caregiver Support Program. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- responsible for coordinating interdisciplinary staffing, work assignments, budget, treatment services provided, and admission criteria of the Caregiver Support Program. - provides guidance, information, and consultation in the development of new policies, guidelines, informational materials, outreach and assures dissemination of information related to the CSP Program. - administers information and analytical systems to evaluate and enhance the quality of service provided to patients. - develops and Implements information systems to track program activities. - develops implements and evaluates clinical guidelines and protocols to establish appropriate utilization of services. - performs the administrative and personnel management functions relative to staff supervised and programs implemented. - establishes guidelines and performance expectations for programs, which are clearly communicated. - develops and recommends guidelines and criteria for proper staffing, equipment and facilities for new and existing Caregiver Support and Programs in coordination with the VISN Chief Medical Officer, and Product Line Managers, field advisory groups, and other entities as appropriate. - conducts and analyzes studies and projects fundamental to planning, programming and budgeting of Caregiver Support such as forecasts of technological changes, bed utilization, future patient workloads, staffing projection and cost comparisons providing feedback and recommendations to VISN Leadership that reflect current standards and expectations provided by VA Central Office. - ensures programs applications meet the regulations and program eligibility criteria to be a participant in the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC). - ensures programs applications meet the regulations and program eligibility criteria to be a participant in the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC). - develops liaison contacts with VA program offices; VISN staff; VHA facility management and Social Work Service. - develops, implements, and mentors the Caregiver Support Coordinators on Public Law 111-163, Section 1 and Final Regulation (Final Rule -Demonstrates understanding of Public Law and regulations and VHA CSP Directive and incorporates national, VISN, and local policy into program standards. - supports multiple CSP projects, programs, and improvement work for enterprise program/project domains within the VHA structure. Social workers must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3j, this part. Education:
Must have a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)Licensure:
Must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the advanced practice level. (COPY OF LICENSE REQUIRED). Grade Determinations:
GS-13 Social Worker Program Coordinator. At this grade, Social Worker Program Coordinators manage the administrative and clinical aspects of a major specialty treatment program, such as PTSD, Substance Abuse Treatment Program (SAW), Home-Based Primary Care (HBPC), etc., or a combination of programs located at one facility or multiple divisions of a facility. They have responsibility for coordinating interdisciplinary staffing, work assignments, budget, treatment services provided, and admission criteria for the program. They may also supervise employees assigned to the program. Social Worker Program Coordinators and Manager:
For Social Worker Program Coordinators, grades are determined by the scope of responsibility and the type, size, and complexity of the assignment. (a) Experience, Education and Licensure. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator or manager must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level. Their experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. They may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the professional KSAs in subparagraph (b) below. (b) Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 1. In-depth knowledge of the program coordinated, and demonstrated knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program. 2. Knowledge and skill in management/administration, which includes supervision, consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. 3. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. 4. Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet multiple deadlines, and evaluate assigned program area(s). 5. Ability to provide training, orientation, consultation and guidance within clinical specialization of practice References:

The work is primarily sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to perform the job tasks. The position will require a moderate level of keyboarding, standing, walking, bending, and lifting. The work environment involves everyday risks requiring normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, or other hospital areas. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
