As an entry level member of the risk management organization at Regions, this position serves as the second line of defense, with the sales team serving as the first line of defense, in assessing the potential risks of existing and proposed transactions. The individual will work closely with credit and sales teammates to assist in underwriting credits, researching new credit opportunities and performing portfolio administration duties. The individual will be expected to develop strong working relationships with credit and sales teammates, as well as credit officers and other bankers.
Primary Responsibilities
Assists in analyzing individual company performance and the impact of industry and competitive dynamics and macroeconomic events on the creditworthiness of clients and prospects
Assists in preparing an independent, in-depth analysis of financial statements, projections and business plans; helps to identify and mitigate key risks
Actively manages financial reporting requirements, covenant requirements, past dues and documentation exceptions
Maintains credit files in good working order; ensures files are complete with all up to date information
Determines the appropriate risk rating for a company; identifies risk factors that could change the risk rating.
Models appropriate loan structures in the profitability model
Prepares credit approval packages on straightforward renewals and extensions
Completes timely ongoing periodic credit servicing of loans within the portfolio, including analyzing financial performance, performance vs. projections, covenant compliance, risk rating and any other significant risk drivers
Assists Relationship Manager in research and preparation for customer calls
Develops a strong working knowledge of the commercial loan policy and the credit risk management policy
Ensures compliance with internal bank commercial loan policy, credit risk management policy and external regulatory requirements; documents any exceptions to policy and related rationale/mitigants
Assists in reviewing internal and attorney prepared loan documents to ensure accuracy as compared to the credit approval package; works closely with paralenders to ensure timely completion
Participates in post-closing inspection as part of a continuous monitoring credit risk management framework

Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree and 1-3 years of investment banking or commercial banking experience
Expectation of completion of Risk Management Association certification within the first twelve months

Advanced User of Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
Well organized, attention to detail, and able to manage multiple projects under pressure
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written skills, interpersonal skills, and problem solving skills
Preferences
Accounting and finance knowledge (six hours of accounting at the college level or equivalent work experience)
